The End Of Rosalina

About

The End of Rosalina have made their debut album “Black Smoke”, with 11 tracks accumulating a sharp mix of the song structure of Foo Fighters, the heaviness of Clutch and guitar harmonies worthy of Thin Lizzy. The soundscape is hereby painted with the virtues of seventies rock on the background of modern rock culture. Fronted by Jakob Riis, telling stories of trivial fates, and the everyday struggle in a hectic life, we all want to flee sometimes. The foundation is set by the brothers Simon Edwardsen on the drums and Steffan Ravn Edwardsen on bass, while the lead guitar is skilfully handled by Michael Knudsen.

Everything has been written and recorded in the bands own home studio, situated in the garage at the childhood home of the Edwardsen brothers. The End of Rosalina have worked exhaustively over the last 3 years to get every detail right and the final result are 11 intensive songs, each expressing different facets of the sound of the band. That is why the home studio was important, it granted the time and possibilities to bring out the best in every track, on top of that, the childhood home is kept in an authentic 70’s setting, you can almost smell it on the album. The mixing is done by Søren Andersen (Medley Studios, Electric Guitars, D-A-D) and the mastering has been executed by Emil Thomsen (ET Mastering – Turboweekend, Nephew among others), this ensures a quality on par with the new wave of Danish rock bands. Target Group (Volbeat, Kellermensch, Electric Guitars) is on board for the distribution of the album, delivering the best platform to be acknowledged on the Danish rock scene.

The End of Rosalina consists of the 4 always sharp dressed guys – Jakob Riis as lead singer and playing rhythm guitar, Michael Knudsen on lead guitar and backing vocals, Simon Edwardsen on drums and percussions and Steffan Ravn Edwardsen on bass guitar and backing vocals. The well-dressed appearance works as a contrast to the dysfunctional universe where the stories take place, as a reminder of the dualistic nature of humans.

The first single “No Suit is Suitable”, accompanied by a video, will be released on various digital platforms on the 5th of August, as a teaser for the album. A powerful and compelling song, which deals with the period, when Jakob Riis lost his mother to cancer and the difficult times afterwards, trying to create a new life in the shadows of a former life.

THE HATE COLONY

About

This melodic metalcore quintet is bringing a brutal new album heading your way, by the name Ascending. As a result of being influenced by bands like Pantera, Lamb of God, White chapel, Fleshgod Apocalypse, Gojira, The Black Dahlia Murder, Meshuggah and In Flames. Our third full length album, a record made solely on what the members thinks sound awesome and not confined within any genre limitations.

The album Ascending was made purely out of joy and to finally find the musicians within ourselves. Meaning that we made parts that we thought sounded hard, epic or interesting without trying to copy other acts or let other bands be the law of what we could do or could not do. This album is a transparent wall to see right in to our true animal of music and the lyrics are a full disclosure of simple things in life and also deep concerns within. There is nothing here that is not true and the content of this record is truly genuine.

The beginning: There were two rock hard METAL bands disturbing the peace and quiet in the city of Trondheim. In the south corner of the city, dressed in black and white, Malice were playing their pitch black drop A-tuned riffs with deep devotion. On the other side of the city, black and black-dressed dark ass-kickin’ black metal psychos were digging up the secret of getting the crowd to dance to their beat. They were Vantro.

As time went by and music were made and played, these warrior kids needed to borrow blood from Malice. Malice responded to this request by sending a warrior of their Colony. They sent T-Bag Joe on a mission to help Vantro in the battle to reach the heart of the industry. A year went by and the fight kept escalating and more people came to support, but with no results in sight, they needed a revolution. The warrior from Malice and the allied Vantro-warrior El Nigardo teamed up with the intension of forming a colony with the most vicious and hate filled warriors the city had to offer.

The search: First we needed a thug who could master the technique of fry vocal, we sent for Lord Mordor a respected member of the Malice Colony, He accepted his fate and stepped up to his pedestal. Next we needed a master of low frequency sound waves, Sars The Virus. Sars were an old friend of the Malice Colony and had fought with them before. This was a sure thing, he was in.

Another gunman was needed, but after searching Trondheim vigilantly, none was found. As fate would have it, we stumbled upon a formidable force. A black, mirthless warrior. Big Truck from the Celebratum colony. The Celebratum colony where highly respected black warriors from the city core, and we needed Big Truck’s unmatchable skill. Big Truck solemnly accepted our offer. The time was right. We had the crew. The will. And we had the plans to build our own recording fortress. In seven days the fortress was raised and THE HATE COLONY was formed.

The Petulant

About

The Petulant were formed to destroy the somewhat polished expression that seems to dominate the metal genre today.  Metal started out as a musical rebellion, were ferocity, energy and all the horrors of the world were part of the sound. It is this fascination and approach to music that drives The Petulant to making and spreading their music. Musically it´s aggressive death thrash, with the sound from the early nineties in Europe and the USA. Main inspirations are from the Bay area, like Exodus and Testament, but also from death-and black metal like Death, Carcass and Marduk.

The band consists of both old and new blood from the Danish metal scene. They have been part of many different bands the likes of: Sacrificial and Iniquity through Mordax and Crocell, and even the old English band Atomkraft (this is just a short excerpt of a long list). This diversity does shine through in the bands music, were both old and new ideas align to create a new expression.

Dictum was produced by the well known punk and hardcore producer Lasse Ballade in his dark dungeon; Ballade Studio´s in Copenhagen, were allso danish ORM and Slaegt did their recent albums. This was a very conscious choice in order to get some of the unbound savagery from punk music into the production of the songs. It´s supposed to sound like music played by people, without any kind of sequencer, triggers og beat detective.

The album contains of 10 ultra aggressive songs, were some of the brutallity that was known from early Sacrificial is audibly pressent. This is probably due to the fact that the Meier brothers, 2 of the members of the band, used to be main forces in that band. The songs on the record have lots of variety, from the fast opener Toying with the Infinite to the heavy and dragging My Ceasar.

THE VISION ABLAZE

About

The Vision Ablaze is shivers sent down your spine, an emotional rush and raised fists. The Vision Ablaze is more than just metal: it’s serrated songs brimming with epic melodies, emotion and raw nerve. It’s metal with progressive compositions that are reminiscent of acts such as Killswitch Engage, Strapping Young Lad, Mercenary and Machine Head.

The Vision Ablaze was formed in 2010 and consists of singer Peter, drummer Christian and guitarists Brian and Marcus. The vision has always been clear: to write original music without fear – to write music that make people feel. The band has released two critically acclaimed EP’s, both of them recorded with renowned producers

Youtopia is paraphrashing Thomas Mores Utopia. More merged Greek concepts of Eutopos (i.e. a good place) and Outopos (i.e. no place). Did Thomas More believe a place in perfect equilibrium did not exist? The Vision Ablaze believes it is in all of us, once all the illusions and delusions are shed. The album challenges you to be active in your own life, to partake in rebelling against authorities that control through fear and lies. The album is both brutal and fragile, but most of all honest: Youtopia is happiness, sorrow, dedication, fear and anger. It’s an album meant to lay bare the emotions of the songwriters.

Youtopia was recorded, mixed and mastered by Jacob Hansen (Volbeat, Aborted, Mercenary, Pretty Maids and many more). We chose Jacob because he had done such a great job on our previous EP ‘Reach for the Stars’. He has an uncanny ability to make something incredibly brutal and still let fragile clean passages and singing stand out. That’s what we wanted for Youtopia: a soundscape that was massive, brutal and fragile. Jacob’s stellar work, has let us make an album brimming with details without sacrificing brutality – and without becoming introvert in its expressiveness.

THORIUM

ABOUT

“Thorium are back with a vengeance, supplying us with a lethal doze of razor-sharp riffs, steaming groove and tempting melodic, who will lead you into the abyss”, Frank Albrecht, Deaf Forever.

It wasn’t in the cards it had to take 10 years for Thorium to release the follow-up album to 2008’s highly acclaimed “Feral Creation”. MHA says “We were old friends in Thorium and people started getting other priorities in other bands, so all of a sudden it was only myself caring about Thorium. Who can blaim KB for choosing to join Volbeat? However, I wanted to continue with Thorium. Thorium is in my DNA now and something I see I will be doing for the rest of my life. I just needed to find the right recipe, which I believe I have now”.

After hooking up with old pal Kræn Meier (Sacrificial) things started to move fast and having another old friend JP Storm (ex. Dominus) come on board, the process went even smoother. The song writing process for “Blasphemy Awakes” was in full swing and with help from Swedish friends Rogga Johansson and Jonas Lindblood, the process of finalizing the album went fast. Only thing missing now was the perfect drummer – and when Kræn came up with Perra Karlsson, an old friend of both MHA and Kræn, the line-up was complete.

When I started Thorium back in 1997 I wanted our sound to be a blend of the Florida scene with Morbid Angel, Deicide and Brutality and the Swedish scene with Entombed, Dismember and At The Gates. This is still my aim today and I believe “Blasphemy Awakes” came out just the way we wanted. This is our tribute to death metal – a  tribute to my second home, my sanctuary” states MHA.

The comeback album “Blasphemy Awakes” was recorded and mixed in late 2017 by Jakob Gundel (Invocator) in Copenhagen at Gain Factory. The new line-up features Perra Karlsson (Destroyer 666, Nominon) on drums, Kræn Meier (Sacrificial, Atomkraft) on guitas and JP Storm (ex. Dominus) on guitars and bass on this recording is handled by KB Larsen (Volbeat). Artwork is done by Roberto Toderico.

Thorium will perform at this year’s Metal Magic Festival on the 14th of July and have an album release show on the 2nd of June in Copenhagen at Halmtorvet 9.

TOMB OF FINLAND

About

TOMB OF FINLAND – Full story –

PART I – Darkness and agony

Tomb Of Finland got the first shovel full of soil into it’s mouth in the fall of 2009. Thousands of nights filled by misery and tons of tormented thoughts were gathered together. First nails to the coffin had been hammered. By the unholy thoughts of northern pagan mind, it felt so true and fresh after many years of straightforward rock’n roll and productional perfectionism. That was a natural process because a difficult season of tortured and painful life. It was digging a grave for itself without hands. If necessary, you could describe Tomb Of Finland’s music as a somekind of a combination of early 1990’s Doom/Black/Death Metal with modern twist. A lot of new material were written in a few days. My mind was open for new season of darkness. The coffin was now ready and open wide for depressed and anquished souls.

I contacted my previous band member A.Karihtala (CHARON,WOLFHEART, later also KYPCK). He decided to help me with my new project. Drums recorded in the heart of cold winter 2011 in Soundtrack studios / Magnusborg, Porvoo. First thought was I’d make all the vocals by myself with black metal shrieks but then I came up with an idea that music would sound more destructive with lower growls. Antti suggested to ask Ville (SEITH, DAWN OF RELIC, CRYPTID) to join our woe. First three coffins were now full and ready to rot.

PART II – Public bonegarden

In winter 2012 the official hometomb www.tomboffinland.fi and facebook-site were opened. First demo version of song called ”Death of the sun” was uploaded into youtube as slideshow and the band was noted in Finnish INFERNO- zine website and some other metal web archives. New period of shovels, soil and darkness started. It was important period of seeking more rotten flesh to be gathered together as a full band. Mikko Hannuksela (CARTILAGE,VOMITURITION,ENOCHIAN CRESCENT,GHOSTGUARD) found from neighbour cemetary.

PART III – Frost of changes

After dark and cold period of slow rotting. Hungry worms growled angry in frozen soil.
We felt some movements in our rotten flesh. That was a good start of more active and noisy season of our decaying.
Couple of tombs were opened, corpses exhumed and some open tombs got flesh inside to feed the worms in the soil. -H- joined as bass player and Olli as new singer. New line-up was built in our silent tombs for future earthly live
performances. Song called ”Death of the sun” was released as Digital single (CDS) in webstores and Spotify. First official video ”Damnation” was shot, put into coffin, possessed by white worms and laid down to wait for better time of public funerals and condolences.

Frozen soil was digged and the cemetery gate was opened again. One special corpse A.Karihtala exhumed and returned to living. He left the band physically, but will stay with us spiritually in future. New life was written also into -H-‘s in memoriam. He returned to living too. Fresh and agressive corpse Janne Manninen (AND OCEANS,MYGRAIN,MAGENTA HARVEST) was joined our casket ride and replaced A.Karihtala on drums. PART IV – Public funerals

In the fall of 2014 our upcoming debut album “Below the green” was mastered in Unisound studios by Dan Swanö. Damnation-video got public funerals on INFERNO’s website. A lot of new material has already been written to next Tomb Of Finland’s album.

Let there be eternal funerals everywhere !

TRESPASS

ABOUT

TRESPASS was formed in Sudbury, Suffolk, England in April 1979 by brothers Mark (guitar, vocals) and Paul Sutcliffe (drums) Dave Crawte (guitar) Richard Penny (bass)
Around this time they started gigging around East Anglia, playing a mix of rock covers and original songs including early versions of One Of These Days and Lightsmith.

The band were spotted by Trial records, a new local independent record label and were offered an opportunity to release a single.
TRESPASS recorded a self financed session at Hillside Studios Ipswich in October 1979. This featured One Of These Days and Bloody Moon which were destined to be the bands first single on the Trial label.

One of these days was released as a single in January 1980 and gained airplay on Radio One’s Friday Night Rock Show hosted by Tommy Vance and was also played by legendary DJ John Peel.
One of these days became a firm favourite with the crowd at the Sound house rock disco hosted by Neil Kay in London and featured regularly in their metal charts featured in Sounds magazine.
Richard Penny, despite all he had contributed it was decided, was not right for the long term and he was replaced on bass guitar by Cris Linscott.

The band recorded a session at Spaceward studios in Cambridge which was also used by Iron Maiden for their Sound house Tapes.
A new version of One Of These Days, a new track called Stormchild, Lightsmith and a potential new single Live It Up! were recorded.
These versions of One Of These Days and Stormchild were to ‘headline’ the EMI compilation Metal for Muthas volume II. All other bands on the album were represented by one track.

IRON MAIDEN had similarly had two tracks featured on Metal for Muthas volume I.
During this period Lars Ulrich and James Hetfeild of the fledgling METALLICA joined the TRESPASS fan club.
Many UK shows followed including at the prestigious Marquee club in Wardour street London.

A radio one session for The Friday Night rockshow was recorded. A track from which Visionary, with an excellent lyric written by bass guitarist Cris Linscott, was featured on the BBC compilation album Metal explosion which also featured bands such as SAMSON and GILLAN.
TRESPASS recorded a demo session at EMI which it was expected to lead to a major deal.
A second single Live it up was delayed by the departure of singer Steve Mills and the recruitment of Robert Eckland also due to major label interest in the song.

In  1981 the band recorded their third single the Bright Lights EP . Bob Irving left the band during recording.
Following the tragic early death of Mark and Paul’s father Allan Sutcliffe, TRESPASS  finally split in 1982.
Despite their fairly short lived time on the metal scene Trespass made a lasting impact.
Lars Ulrich and James Hetfeild of Metallica remained fans and One Of These Days was featured on NWOBHM compilation 79 revisited put together by Ulrich and Geoff Barton  in 1990

The band released their highly acclaimed greatest hits album the works in 1992.
This was also released in Japan through Pony Canyon Records
Trespass released a critically acclaimed  studio album ‘Head’ in 1993 showing a marked change in sound and style.
A 1999 Trespass concert live in Tokyo Japan, was released through Pony Canyon as Metal Crusade along with NWOBHM bands Samson, Tank and Preying Mantis.

A further  major worldwide release was One Of These Days the Anthology released in 2004 through Castle/ Sanctuary Records.
A new album TRESPASS was recorded in 2012, featuring brand new versions of the bands early tracks, recorded to a high standard with a consistent sound and feel.
The band have currently reformed with Mark Sutcliffe  at the heart of things and a new line up.
Dan Biggin Bass, Joe Fawcett Guitar, and Jason Roberts Drums
Trespass have played live shows at festivals in the UK and Europe in 2015/16/17

Unfaithful

About

The idea of Unfaithful was initially formed when the young teenage guitarist Sammy Kela heard Marcus Kärregård sing at the Högtryck Festival in Sweden in 2000. A friendship grew between the two musicians and Sammy was eventually successful in bringing Marcus onboard as the lead vocalist for what would become Unfaithful, which also consisted of bassist Robin Ingemansson.
With drummer Jimi Lexe entering the band the formation was complete.

Unfaithful took Sweden by storm, playing several popular concert halls and festivals around the country.

After playing three times in a row on Sweden Rock Festival the band released a music video for the track “Psychward” in 2011, directed by Thomas Tjäder (In Flames, At the Gates, Soilwork etc.). The video generated amazing uptake with music media in both print and radio in Sweden and abroad, and was being played on Sirius throughout North America.

Now, three years after, the band is ready with their first full-length album “Streetfighter” – a metallic guitar-oriented album that incorporates sophisticated technical elements, creating a unique sound with intense energy that will grab the listener from the first note.

The tracks on “Streetfighter” are written with inspiration from real life, action movies and all kinds of extreme stories. Subsequently the tracks are made into entertainment and love for the art of playing metal music. The band will donate 10 SEK pr. Sold CD to the organization Friends (http://www.friends.se)

“Streetfighter” is recorded at Top Floor Studios in Gothenburg by Jakob Herrman (Europe, Hurts, Mustasch etc.) and Martin Forslund at Sound Palace Studios in Karlshamn, and was mixed and mastered
by Johan Blomström at Sound Palace Studios.

UNSAFE

About

The French female-fronted metallers UNSAFE brings a new level to the metal-scene with a mixture of thrash, death and the groove and has been compared to acts like Pantera, Machine Head, Lamb Of God.

After fifteen years, Unsafe polishes up their sound completed by powerfull female vocals. “Enter Dark Places” manages to gather everything which makes the strength of the band, a catchy music with extremely memorable hooklines. Most efforts have been made for the composition of the tracks, mixing more complex songs with more simple ones, searching for the good melody and the groove for most of the riffs.

Formed in 1998 by Stéphanie Nolf (bass) and Lionel Faucher (guitar), the band took advantage of a long experience of the underground scene to improve its style, having the privilege to share the stage with Napalm Death, Textures, Crucified Barbara, Eluvetie, Nazum, No Return, Hacride, Lofofora, Mass Hysteria, Nostromo, Execution and many others.

This new album “Enter Dark Places” has been recorded by Stéphanie & Lionel in July & August 2014. All tracks were sent to David Potvin at Dôme Studio who did an excellent work on the sound, the mix & mastering.

The vocals are a very important part of the album – they bring the final touch to the songs. They are more diverse with guttural passages and more melodic. The lyrics focus on themes such as social and financial excesses of the modern world, the destruction of our planet, overconsumption, the mindlessness of people, the loss of values, the rise of individualism and selfishness.

Unsafe welcomed three new members in the line-up just before recording this album – Xavier Garrabos (Drums), Nico Bona (Guitar) and Mathieu Giraud (Bass) – who all contributed to the sound and feel on the album

“Enter Dark Places” will be released worldwide via Mighty Music July 3rd. 2015!

VITAL BREATH

About

No man is a prophet in his own land!

Vital Breath  is well aware of this. There is no other band like them in France. This makes them feel like aliens.

The band believe in their own music that mixes many influences of modern metal music, American rock, metal progressive, alternative rock and a touch of catchy pop melodies. Fans of Alter Bridge, Disturbed, Alice in Chains, or Dream Theater should enjoy.

All texts and music are written by Jérôme Ponsolle (lead vocal and guitar). Each piece is carefully arranged and orchestrated by the rest of the group. All songs deal with topics such as human relations, societal issues, the perception of good and evil, life, death, beliefs, ecology, and the complexity of our world today. A mixture of zen, hope, inner torture and outlet

After a first album “Duality, which was well received by musical critics and the public, the 12 tracks of the new album “Angel of lights” received a careful production and adapted to the progressive style of the group (mix and mastering by Olivier Didillon). The pianos and strings arrangements made by Julien Spreutels (Ethernity, Epysode, Noveria), add an accomplishment to the work realized by the group.

Vital Breath is: Jérôme Ponsolle on lead vocals and guitar, François Brisk on the drums (ex Dyslesia – Virus IV), Wayne Loeuillet (ex the Great Beyond) on the guitar and Christophe Blanc-Tailleur on the bass (Anasazi – Kranks). The four passionate musicians convey through their music, a positive energy and awaken emotions that will make you feel … alive!

Now listen and take a deep Vital Breath !!
