Transport League

ABOUT

It doubtlessly takes a lot of mental strength to stay on your chosen path, despite all the imponderables that the music industry entails. Transport League from Sweden are a prime example of determination and perseverance. As the critics’ faves, they have been praised to the skies, as a down-to-earth band they’ve always remained in tune with the times and close to their fans, while their rhythmic, powerful and stylistically diverse heavy metal has left an impressive mark on the international hard’n’heavy scene. Transport League are set to launch another artistic landmark, when the band are scheduled to release their new album A MLIION VOLT SCREAM thru MIGHTY MUSIC before going on to present their latest material live on stage with their familiar merciless energy. That’s when everybody will understand why the media like to refer to the group’s style by the album title of its 2014 release: BOOGIE FROM HELL!

Said boogie is also present on A MILLION VOLT SCREAM, albeit not exclusively so. Transport League appear to have opened Pandora’s metal box with intent and are now busy blazing their trail through all those strong ideas that they have unleashed. “Of course there’s boogie again, but also doom and hardcore, fast songs and hard riffs,” vocalist/guitarist Tony Jelencovich describes the new album. “Our sound may have changed a few times, but not the band’s raw power and our penchant for strong grooves.” The three longstanding band members Tony Jelencovich, Peter Hunyadi (guitar) and Mattias Starander (drums) recorded the album together with Transport League’s new bassist Dennis Österdal who has joined the fold to replace Lars Häglund, the latter having had to leave the group due to health problems.

Jelencovich is referring to rigorous numbers such as ´Monster Human`, set to be supported by a video clip, which has him state: “Leben , Sterben”.´Dawn of Lucifer` is no less uncompromising, Transport League by all appearances having been inspired by acts such as Black Sabbath and certainly doing the term ‘doom metal’ credit.

Talking of inspiration: “A MILLION VOLT SCREAM is a return to our own roots and mixes them with influences that had already surfaced on our two previous releases BOOGIE FROM HELL and TWIST AND SHOUT AT THE DEVIL,” Jelencovich summarises the basic direction of the new material.

A MILLION VOLT SCREAM was produced at Oral Majority Recordings and at the Top Floor studios under the direction of Roberto Laghi (In Flames, Entombed AD, Raised Fist, Sonic Syndicate, Mustasch, Hardcore Superstar etc), who also mixed the album.
About twenty years after the arrival of their debut STALLION SHOWCASE, Transport League are ready to present A MILLION VOLT SCREAM – not only their eight album to date but further evidence of their inexhaustible creative power.

Dominanz

ABOUT

Dominanz is an Extreme Metal band with Black Metal influences hailing from Norway.

Dominanz was formed in 2009, and two years later they released their debut As I Shine. In 2014 Dominanz followed up with the critically acclaimed Noxious. The world press embraced it, and the reviews were overall great. It was darker and definitely stronger then the debut album.

The contributions of guest vocalists Abbath (Immortal), Olav Iversen (Sagh) and Doro Korsvold (Fairy) made the music even more eclectic and varied. Metal-Temple called it a masterpiece and wrote among other; Noxious is a combination of everything that makes extreme metal what it is, and gave it 10/10.

Now over 4 years later they are ready with their third full length, Let the Death Enter. This time they entered Øystein G. Bruns’(Borknagar) Crosound Studio. They used most of 2017/2018 in Crosound studio to make Let the Death Enter as great as it has become. The final touch is made by the mastermind Dan Swanö at Unisound Studio.

On this album Dominanz are more influenced by their roots from the black metal, but for sure keep their atmospheric signature.

Ghost Ship Octavius

ABOUT

Formed in 2012 by guitarist Matthew Wicklund (God Forbid, HIMSA), drummer Van Williams (Nevermore) and vocalist/guitarist Adōn Fanion, Ghost Ship Octavius began writing what would become their critically acclaimed 2015 Self-Titled debut release. With foundations in Progressive Metal, GSO are forging a fresh pathway in the metal genre by exploring emotional and melodic writing firmly founded in technical playing and memorable hooks with a common theme of darkness, hope and ghostly imagery with chilling, arctic elements throughout. Their 2018 album Delirium sees GSO raising the bar in both technical ability and emotional depth and color and marks the beginning of a new Record Label partnership with Mighty Music.

“We are beyond pleased to announce joining forces with Mighty Music, bringing forth a new and exciting chapter for GSO Worldwide.” – Matthew Wicklund, Van Williams & Adōn Fanion.

“Ghost Ship Octavius is one of the most promising and professional artists I ever signed to Mighty Music. Their “Delerium” album is a 10/10 in my personal fanzine”, Michael H. Andersen, Mighty Music CEO.

“It is no exaggeration to restate that ‘Delirium’ has to be one of the strongest releases that 2018 has delivered to date. It is a truly excellent blend of heaviness, melody, theatrics and powerful bombast with enough complexity to give the record plenty of longevity. Ghost Ship Octavius deserve to be dining at the top table of heavy metal because ‘Delirium’ is a genuinely killer record. Check it out or miss out.” – Man of Much Metal

“From the beginning to the end you stay on the edge of your chair…A must for fans of Queensrÿche, Pain Of Salvation, Nevermore and Kamelot.” –Liselotte Hegt, Aardschok 90/100

role in song creation.

In 2017, the group began recording their first sound takes in order to put together their

“Red Black White” to be released on December 14th

Bio

In 2014 the band members took the decision to enter the competition for the selection of Cypriot representative at Eurovision 2015. This decision, unlikely for a Rock band, was taken as it is basically the only way to become known abroad, since the size of the population of Cyprus (800,000 inhabitants) does not allow any local artist to reach international level unless by leaving the country or finding a way to be known abroad (it may be worth pointing out that George Michael and Cat Stevens both have Cypriot father). Thus the project to present the song “Shine” to the national selections for the Eurovision Song Contest 2015 was born, where it won the Jury Prize, ranking though third after the televoting.

On 4 November 2015, the Cyprus Broadcasting Corporation (CyBC) announced that the group would represent Cyprus in the Eurovision Song Contest 2016, without making any pre-selection. The song, titled “Alter Ego” was created by Minus One in three weeks, and brought to the production of the Swedish composer Thomas G: son. Rated the best ever entry from Cyprus, it made it through the final but ended up only in 21
st position. But in the next two weeks the song found its right place at the top of the charts in Spotify and Itunes throughout most of Europe and has so far been streamed over 2,5 million times on Spotify alone.

Purser / Deverill

About

Fred Purser (ex. Penetration and Tygers of Pan Tang) punches a button on the mixing console in the studio he has run for 30 years and muses (to no-one in particular) ‘Well that took rather longer than I expected…….’  ‘Yes about 30 years longer’ laughs band mate Jon Deverill. Master of the understatement, Fred is referring to the album he has finally completed together with Jon.

An album that has been over 30 years in the making. But let’s rewind. Jon, a native of Cardiff, had made the transition from amateur to professional when he answered an advert in the now defunct Melody Maker placed by The Tygers of Pan Tang. The Tygers, determined to move away from their punk metal beginnings, were looking for a singer with power and authority. That man was Jon. Running roughshod over the other auditionees he was the first choice of everyone concerned. The album that followed was the highly rated ‘Spellbound’ where the thrilling combination of Jon’s power vocals and John Sykes’ acclaimed guitar playing elevated the Tygers to City Hall headliner status.

One more album together and Sykes was gone and the Tygers were left looking for a guitar player on the eve of a tour of France. Step forward Fred Purser. Fred, born in County Durham, in the tough North East of England, began his musical career proper with lauded New Wave band ‘Penetration’. Brought in to beef up their sound he contributed to two albums for Virgin Records until the band felt that they had said everything they could, and Fred went on to start work on a solo project. With no time to audition a new guitarist Fred seemed an obvious choice ‘Can you learn the set in a week? Fred was asked.  7 days later he answered that question in style. Long curly hair, trademark ripped t-shirt, every bit the quintessential rock star he stood on the stage in Paris and replicated the finger knotting solos that Sykes had contributed to the band.

One album later (the bestselling ‘The Cage’), successful tours of Europe and Japan under their belts and the band imploded. That would have been the end of the story had not Fred already begun writing material for bands next album. Undeterred by the mess that was left behind in the wake of the Tygers dissolution, Fred enlisted his now friend, Tygers singer Jon Deverill, to work on the songs he had begun to write. And here, some 30 odd years later, the two friends have finally finished that album and, with an interesting twist of fate, signed to the Tygers current record company Might Music.
And you might wonder what kind of music is produced by two Yes, Pink Floyd, Queen and Zeppelin loving musicians one of whom has run his own recording studio for 30 years and the other who has carved out a career as a successful actor?  ‘It’s kind of proggy really I suppose’ says the Fred, ‘With a good helping of rock’ adds Jon.

“Square One” is Produced, engineered, mixed and mastered by Fred Purser.and will be released on the 14th of December 2018 on Mighty Music on black LP, CD and digital.

Seven Thorns

About

Denmark’s finest Power Metal band, Seven Thorns, begins a new chapter, with the release of their 3rd album “Symphony of Shadows”!  Spicing up their sound with heavier, darker influences like Symphony X and Adagio they still remember their roots in neo-classical and classic Power Metal in the vein of Helloween and Stratovarius. The result is strong, catchy melodies, high-end technical musicianship and a massive, dark and rich sound, and the 9 tracks will leave the listener gasping for air yet yearning for more!

Having played numerous gigs and festivals including the prestigious CopenHell, blowing away audiences and critics alike, and having shared stages with bands like Primal Fear and Freedom Call, the band is a force to be reckoned with. In the words of composer and guitarist Gabriel Tuxen: “We wanted to make an album that was FUN for us to play on stage, and one that will entertain our fanbase as well as people who see us for the first time. I think we succeeded, and more.”

To enhance the darkness and heaviness of the album, Seven Thorns worked with famed producer Tue Madsen. He turned out to be the perfect partner to make the vision come alive, making sure that every detail in the complex soundscapes stand out clearly, still creating a wall of sound full of pummeling bassdrums, heavy guitars and soaring solos that will satisfy even the most demanding shred-fetishist.

Centered around the virtuoso talents of guitarist and main composer Gabriel Tuxen and keyboard player Asger Nielsen, and with the charismatic voice and persona Björn Asking handling the vocals, the ambitious melodies and songs easily come alive. The low end is kept tight and heavy by bassist Mads Molbaek and everything is paced forward hard and fast by drummer and band mastermind Lars Borup.

Black Sunday

About

Founded 2010 as Psychotic Pain and played a strange mix between synth, metal and rock music. Did some gigs, and demos and then changed their name to Black Sunday before they split up short time after.

In 2015 mainman Tricky T decided to do more hardrock style of music, and went into studio to record what to became their great debut album “A Ghost In The City”
He kept the name but no live performances happened and the promotion for the first record was very poor.

Again a break occured. In the fall of 2016 Tricky T again started to write songs for their second album. For this album, the band wrote about 15 songs and 10 of them ended up on the record. Among them, one old song called “Superstar Hero” that was supposed to be on the first record, but they did some changes from the demo version and did a new recording.
The same with the song “Nobody Cares”, that originally was called “Alone”.

The style is like the first one, some heavy riffs, some punk but mostly hardrock. It is still the mission of the band to write catchy singalong songs with good melodies and a dirty attitude!

For the new album the band hooked up with Mighty Music to realise the second album.

As this is written, they are back as a 4 piece band and hopefully will be back on stage where our music belongs!
