TOMB OF FINLAND – Full story –

PART I – Darkness and agony

Tomb Of Finland got the first shovel full of soil into it’s mouth in the fall of 2009. Thousands of nights filled by misery and tons of tormented thoughts were gathered together. First nails to the coffin had been hammered. By the unholy thoughts of northern pagan mind, it felt so true and fresh after many years of straightforward rock’n roll and productional perfectionism. That was a natural process because a difficult season of tortured and painful life. It was digging a grave for itself without hands. If necessary, you could describe Tomb Of Finland’s music as a somekind of a combination of early 1990’s Doom/Black/Death Metal with modern twist. A lot of new material were written in a few days. My mind was open for new season of darkness. The coffin was now ready and open wide for depressed and anquished souls.

I contacted my previous band member A.Karihtala (CHARON,WOLFHEART, later also KYPCK). He decided to help me with my new project. Drums recorded in the heart of cold winter 2011 in Soundtrack studios / Magnusborg, Porvoo. First thought was I’d make all the vocals by myself with black metal shrieks but then I came up with an idea that music would sound more destructive with lower growls. Antti suggested to ask Ville (SEITH, DAWN OF RELIC, CRYPTID) to join our woe. First three coffins were now full and ready to rot.

PART II – Public bonegarden

In winter 2012 the official hometomb www.tomboffinland.fi and facebook-site were opened. First demo version of song called ”Death of the sun” was uploaded into youtube as slideshow and the band was noted in Finnish INFERNO- zine website and some other metal web archives. New period of shovels, soil and darkness started. It was important period of seeking more rotten flesh to be gathered together as a full band. Mikko Hannuksela (CARTILAGE,VOMITURITION,ENOCHIAN CRESCENT,GHOSTGUARD) found from neighbour cemetary.

PART III – Frost of changes

After dark and cold period of slow rotting. Hungry worms growled angry in frozen soil.
We felt some movements in our rotten flesh. That was a good start of more active and noisy season of our decaying.
Couple of tombs were opened, corpses exhumed and some open tombs got flesh inside to feed the worms in the soil. -H- joined as bass player and Olli as new singer. New line-up was built in our silent tombs for future earthly live
performances. Song called ”Death of the sun” was released as Digital single (CDS) in webstores and Spotify. First official video ”Damnation” was shot, put into coffin, possessed by white worms and laid down to wait for better time of public funerals and condolences.

Frozen soil was digged and the cemetery gate was opened again. One special corpse A.Karihtala exhumed and returned to living. He left the band physically, but will stay with us spiritually in future. New life was written also into -H-‘s in memoriam. He returned to living too. Fresh and agressive corpse Janne Manninen (AND OCEANS,MYGRAIN,MAGENTA HARVEST) was joined our casket ride and replaced A.Karihtala on drums. PART IV – Public funerals

In the fall of 2014 our upcoming debut album “Below the green” was mastered in Unisound studios by Dan Swanö. Damnation-video got public funerals on INFERNO’s website. A lot of new material has already been written to next Tomb Of Finland’s album.

The idea of Unfaithful was initially formed when the young teenage guitarist Sammy Kela heard Marcus Kärregård sing at the Högtryck Festival in Sweden in 2000. A friendship grew between the two musicians and Sammy was eventually successful in bringing Marcus onboard as the lead vocalist for what would become Unfaithful, which also consisted of bassist Robin Ingemansson.
With drummer Jimi Lexe entering the band the formation was complete.

Unfaithful took Sweden by storm, playing several popular concert halls and festivals around the country.

After playing three times in a row on Sweden Rock Festival the band released a music video for the track “Psychward” in 2011, directed by Thomas Tjäder (In Flames, At the Gates, Soilwork etc.). The video generated amazing uptake with music media in both print and radio in Sweden and abroad, and was being played on Sirius throughout North America.

Now, three years after, the band is ready with their first full-length album “Streetfighter” – a metallic guitar-oriented album that incorporates sophisticated technical elements, creating a unique sound with intense energy that will grab the listener from the first note.

The tracks on “Streetfighter” are written with inspiration from real life, action movies and all kinds of extreme stories. Subsequently the tracks are made into entertainment and love for the art of playing metal music. The band will donate 10 SEK pr. Sold CD to the organization Friends (http://www.friends.se)

“Streetfighter” is recorded at Top Floor Studios in Gothenburg by Jakob Herrman (Europe, Hurts, Mustasch etc.) and Martin Forslund at Sound Palace Studios in Karlshamn, and was mixed and mastered
 by Johan Blomström at Sound Palace Studios.

The French female-fronted metallers UNSAFE brings a new level to the metal-scene with a mixture of thrash, death and the groove and has been compared to acts like Pantera, Machine Head, Lamb Of God.

After fifteen years, Unsafe polishes up their sound completed by powerfull female vocals. “Enter Dark Places” manages to gather everything which makes the strength of the band, a catchy music with extremely memorable hooklines. Most efforts have been made for the composition of the tracks, mixing more complex songs with more simple ones, searching for the good melody and the groove for most of the riffs.

Formed in 1998 by Stéphanie Nolf (bass) and Lionel Faucher (guitar), the band took advantage of a long experience of the underground scene to improve its style, having the privilege to share the stage with Napalm Death, Textures, Crucified Barbara, Eluvetie, Nazum, No Return, Hacride, Lofofora, Mass Hysteria, Nostromo, Execution and many others.

This new album “Enter Dark Places” has been recorded by Stéphanie & Lionel in July & August 2014. All tracks were sent to David Potvin at Dôme Studio who did an excellent work on the sound, the mix & mastering.

The vocals are a very important part of the album – they bring the final touch to the songs. They are more diverse with guttural passages and more melodic. The lyrics focus on themes such as social and financial excesses of the modern world, the destruction of our planet, overconsumption, the mindlessness of people, the loss of values, the rise of individualism and selfishness.

Unsafe welcomed three new members in the line-up just before recording this album – Xavier Garrabos (Drums), Nico Bona (Guitar) and Mathieu Giraud (Bass) – who all contributed to the sound and feel on the album

“Enter Dark Places” will be released worldwide via Mighty Music July 3rd. 2015!

No man is a prophet in his own land!

Vital Breath  is well aware of this. There is no other band like them in France. This makes them feel like aliens.

The band believe in their own music that mixes many influences of modern metal music, American rock, metal progressive, alternative rock and a touch of catchy pop melodies. Fans of Alter Bridge, Disturbed, Alice in Chains, or Dream Theater should enjoy.

All texts and music are written by Jérôme Ponsolle (lead vocal and guitar). Each piece is carefully arranged and orchestrated by the rest of the group. All songs deal with topics such as human relations, societal issues, the perception of good and evil, life, death, beliefs, ecology, and the complexity of our world today. A mixture of zen, hope, inner torture and outlet

After a first album “Duality, which was well received by musical critics and the public, the 12 tracks of the new album “Angel of lights” received a careful production and adapted to the progressive style of the group (mix and mastering by Olivier Didillon). The pianos and strings arrangements made by Julien Spreutels (Ethernity, Epysode, Noveria), add an accomplishment to the work realized by the group.

Vital Breath is: Jérôme Ponsolle on lead vocals and guitar, François Brisk on the drums (ex Dyslesia – Virus IV), Wayne Loeuillet (ex the Great Beyond) on the guitar and Christophe Blanc-Tailleur on the bass (Anasazi – Kranks). The four passionate musicians convey through their music, a positive energy and awaken emotions that will make you feel … alive!

Vicinity is the musical melting pot of band members Alexander K. Lykke (vocals), Kim-Marius H. Olsen (guitars), Pierre-Nicolai H. Schmidt-Melbye (bass), Ivar A. Nyland (keyboards) and Frode Lillevold (drums). The band draws inspiration from classic- or modern prog, rock, pop, classical music, heavy metal or the more extreme metal genres.

Vicinity is following up on the critically acclaimed album Awakening from 2013. The debut album made it to “best newcomer” lists by several webcines and Norwegian national radio (NRK P3).

The new creation, Recurrence, is a concept album that debates the cyclic nature of humanity, both as a whole and at more personal levels, while highlighting both the technical- and melodic aspects familiar to the progressive metal genre.

With Recurrence the band set out to make an album that would be more than just the sum of its tracks, and envisioned an album where the songs would float into each other, and at the very end of the album connecting with the beginning of the first song, making an ”infinite” musical piece, thus mirroring the lyrics.
As before the band wanted to challenge themselves technically, aiming to do better than the last time, but always keeping the songs and the album as a whole in focus. The result is an album comprising six tracks, varying in length from 5 to 22 minutes per track, in the tradition of bands like Circus Maximus, Pagan’s Mind, Threshold, Arena, Haken, and early Dream Theater.

Walking Rumor is an energetic nu-metal from Odense, Denmark. The band joined forces in May 2015 and quickly found a common goal with the music which became the sound of the band. The first single was released in August 2015 followed by the first EP ‘The War Within’ in February 2016.

The EP has reached more than 30.000 streams on Spotify alone and the single ‘Proud Of Me’ has been aired on multiple radio stations across Europe. A popular danish music initiative called KarriereKanonen (CareerCanon) recommended ‘Proud Of Me’ as soon as it got released on their website.

The single flew into ‘NextUp ChartList’ top 100 list of artist singles in the world and they gave the band a nice review. The Danish website ‘TAK ROCK!’ (THANK ROCK) granted the band with the title ‘Band Of The Month’ two months in a row (March and April 2016).

WR won the Danish selection for ‘Global Battle of the Bands’ (GBOB) 2016 and represented Denmark at the ‘Global Battle Of The Bands’ (GBOB) 2016 WORLD FINAL in Berlin, Germany the 26’th of May. The band got a 3rd place in the category ‘Peoples choice’.

In december Swedish alternative/progressive hard rock trio We Could Build An Empire are back with the follow-up to their 2011 eponymous debut. On the new album called ”In This Place” the band have worked with the reputed Jens Bogren at Fashination Street Studios (Opeth, Katatonia, Witchcraft) and legendary producer Zed Smon. Zed most famously worked with the biggest poprock band inside Sweden, Kent on their major breakthrough albums during 1997-2002.

The aim for the new album was to make every track stand out as a great song on it’s own, carefully produced and mixed to match the vibe and the lyrics of each one. This is why it took some extra time to finish the album, patiently waiting until very busy producer Jens Bogren had time to mix the final three songs.

Looking back at the debut Classic Rock Magazine’s PROG issue wrote:

“Opener “Finest Work” has a muscular metallic tinge that nods to Alice In Chains, while there’s a touch of Peter Gabriel in “Easy”. A charm all it’s own.”

Even though the debut was a non-budet self-release it did get some attention in the US as well:

“We Could build An Empire is a fine modern melodic rock release which perfectly fuses elements from alternative rock and progressive rock into a collection of completely saturated and compelling tunes. Fans of the likes of Mew, Soundgarden, Muse, and Coldplay might find it further interesting, since We Could Build An Empire presents yet another way of combining alternative rock and progressive rock.”

Bassist/vocalist Marcus Pehrsson share his thoughts on the new album:

– I guess we have to a great extent stuck with our influences and that’s still a little bit of everything we like really, all the great music we love from Tool, Soundgarden and Radiohead to AC/DC, PJ Harvey and King Crimson. Music to me should be without boundaries. Just let it flow, any path it takes really, that’s what our music is about. We like it diverse, like an old Led Zep or Beatles-album in that sense, whatever happened to that idea?

First single ”All In This Together” was released in the spring of 2016 and since then the band also put out an temporarily EP with the first four songs that Zed had mixed. Once all the eight songs was done the band signed up with Mighty Music and the EP was withdrawn for the benefit of the full-lenght album.

Wintergarden was initially created by singer/songwriter Miriam Gardner while co-writing and file sharing on the internet with friends from all over the globe.

Miriam quickly involved her guitarist and producer husband Blake Gardner once some promising material began to emerge. The two started consolidating the material into the Wintergarden sound in their own studio which is based in Denmark.

Although the writing part of the project began in Febuary 2011, the band was officially launched in August 2011 with the release of the ‘Steampunk Deluxe’ Ep on their own label Vocal Station.

In support of the Ep, Wintergarden took out the live line up for a handful of shows within Denmark to a great response before returning back into the studio to continue working on new material. Once back in the studio the duo continued collaborating via file sharing but this time worked exclusively with a good friend from Los Angeles, Darren Davis with their sights set on a debut album. During this process a lot of material was collected and produced but was in need of futher development so the single, ‘Sacrifice’ was chosen and released in October 2011, again on Vocal Station.

The single began opening doors to US radio stations who began adding it to their playlists and a rapid internet fan base began to grow also resulting in airplay of the song, ‘No Longer Invited’ from the ‘Steampunk Deluxe’ Ep.

With a great response from the ‘Sacrifice’ single Wintergarden pushed on with the album and added an additional collaboration with Sevendust guitarist, Clint Lowery who Miriam and Blake had met after a show in Copenhagen back in June 2009. Clint loved the Ep and Single and had some great idears which after some swapping back and forth became, the songs ‘Breathe’ and ‘Can You Wait’.

As the album was taking longer than anticipated the song ‘Breathe’ was chosen to be released as a single. At this time Blake had been in contact with Kevin and Kane Churko, Juno award winners (Ozzy / Five Finger Death Punch / In This Moment) from Las Vegas studio The Hideout, in regard to getting an alternative mix. Kane although busy was quite interested in doing a mix for Wintergarden, and fit the band in straight away. This mix of the song ‘Breathe’ was then released as a single in December 2013 on Vocal Station.

The song ‘Breathe’ is currently enjoying radio rotation and has kept the fan base flame alive while the debut album, ‘The New Victorian’ has been completed and are out now.

A rhythm section that lights a darkened highway, guitars that descend like lightning from a stormy sky, a voice polished by sand paper – Here is WORRY BLAST!

If ACDC was an old family recipe, this young band from Switzerland is what you would be eating at Grandma’s house.

Worry Blast is the name of this powerful quartet that released their first album ”Break Out From Hell”, in 2013. An album that made Lycra wearing 80’s glam bands run for their lives. Worry Blast have quickly made a name for themselves on the live scene with their furious and hard rockin’ live shows.

After supporting Jeff Scott Soto and his band in several countrie during their European tour in 2014 and opening for Scorpions, Gotthard and Johnny Hallyday in 2015, the band is ready to release its second album “Hit The Gas“.

They decided to produce it with Dennis Ward, producer for Krokus, Gotthard, Khymera, because the time arrived for the band to get this American touch on their recordings.

“Hit the gas“ is a big return to the best 80’s moments with basic riffs and furious solos. Including a featured track with Tommy Henriksen from Alice Cooper, the entire band is looking forward to releasing it worldwide, showing to everyone all they can do!

‘Hit The Gas’ will be released worldwide January 22th 2016
