Purser / Deverill

About

Fred Purser (ex. Penetration and Tygers of Pan Tang) punches a button on the mixing console in the studio he has run for 30 years and muses (to no-one in particular) ‘Well that took rather longer than I expected…….’  ‘Yes about 30 years longer’ laughs band mate Jon Deverill. Master of the understatement, Fred is referring to the album he has finally completed together with Jon.

An album that has been over 30 years in the making. But let’s rewind. Jon, a native of Cardiff, had made the transition from amateur to professional when he answered an advert in the now defunct Melody Maker placed by The Tygers of Pan Tang. The Tygers, determined to move away from their punk metal beginnings, were looking for a singer with power and authority. That man was Jon. Running roughshod over the other auditionees he was the first choice of everyone concerned. The album that followed was the highly rated ‘Spellbound’ where the thrilling combination of Jon’s power vocals and John Sykes’ acclaimed guitar playing elevated the Tygers to City Hall headliner status.

One more album together and Sykes was gone and the Tygers were left looking for a guitar player on the eve of a tour of France. Step forward Fred Purser. Fred, born in County Durham, in the tough North East of England, began his musical career proper with lauded New Wave band ‘Penetration’. Brought in to beef up their sound he contributed to two albums for Virgin Records until the band felt that they had said everything they could, and Fred went on to start work on a solo project. With no time to audition a new guitarist Fred seemed an obvious choice ‘Can you learn the set in a week? Fred was asked.  7 days later he answered that question in style. Long curly hair, trademark ripped t-shirt, every bit the quintessential rock star he stood on the stage in Paris and replicated the finger knotting solos that Sykes had contributed to the band.

One album later (the bestselling ‘The Cage’), successful tours of Europe and Japan under their belts and the band imploded. That would have been the end of the story had not Fred already begun writing material for bands next album. Undeterred by the mess that was left behind in the wake of the Tygers dissolution, Fred enlisted his now friend, Tygers singer Jon Deverill, to work on the songs he had begun to write. And here, some 30 odd years later, the two friends have finally finished that album and, with an interesting twist of fate, signed to the Tygers current record company Might Music.
And you might wonder what kind of music is produced by two Yes, Pink Floyd, Queen and Zeppelin loving musicians one of whom has run his own recording studio for 30 years and the other who has carved out a career as a successful actor?  ‘It’s kind of proggy really I suppose’ says the Fred, ‘With a good helping of rock’ adds Jon.

“Square One” is Produced, engineered, mixed and mastered by Fred Purser.and will be released on the 14th of December 2018 on Mighty Music on black LP, CD and digital.

Seven Thorns

About

Denmark’s finest Power Metal band, Seven Thorns, begins a new chapter, with the release of their 3rd album “Symphony of Shadows”!  Spicing up their sound with heavier, darker influences like Symphony X and Adagio they still remember their roots in neo-classical and classic Power Metal in the vein of Helloween and Stratovarius. The result is strong, catchy melodies, high-end technical musicianship and a massive, dark and rich sound, and the 9 tracks will leave the listener gasping for air yet yearning for more!

Having played numerous gigs and festivals including the prestigious CopenHell, blowing away audiences and critics alike, and having shared stages with bands like Primal Fear and Freedom Call, the band is a force to be reckoned with. In the words of composer and guitarist Gabriel Tuxen: “We wanted to make an album that was FUN for us to play on stage, and one that will entertain our fanbase as well as people who see us for the first time. I think we succeeded, and more.”

To enhance the darkness and heaviness of the album, Seven Thorns worked with famed producer Tue Madsen. He turned out to be the perfect partner to make the vision come alive, making sure that every detail in the complex soundscapes stand out clearly, still creating a wall of sound full of pummeling bassdrums, heavy guitars and soaring solos that will satisfy even the most demanding shred-fetishist.

Centered around the virtuoso talents of guitarist and main composer Gabriel Tuxen and keyboard player Asger Nielsen, and with the charismatic voice and persona Björn Asking handling the vocals, the ambitious melodies and songs easily come alive. The low end is kept tight and heavy by bassist Mads Molbaek and everything is paced forward hard and fast by drummer and band mastermind Lars Borup.
It’s Power, it’s Heavy, it’s Dark: it is The SYMPHONY OF SHADOWS

Black Sunday

About

Founded 2010 as Psychotic Pain and played a strange mix between synth, metal and rock music. Did some gigs, and demos and then changed their name to Black Sunday before they split up short time after.

In 2015 mainman Tricky T decided to do more hardrock style of music, and went into studio to record what to became their great debut album “A Ghost In The City”
He kept the name but no live performances happened and the promotion for the first record was very poor.

Again a break occured. In the fall of 2016 Tricky T again started to write songs for their second album. For this album, the band wrote about 15 songs and 10 of them ended up on the record. Among them, one old song called “Superstar Hero” that was supposed to be on the first record, but they did some changes from the demo version and did a new recording.
The same with the song “Nobody Cares”, that originally was called “Alone”.

The style is like the first one, some heavy riffs, some punk but mostly hardrock. It is still the mission of the band to write catchy singalong songs with good melodies and a dirty attitude!

For the new album the band hooked up with Mighty Music to realise the second album.

As this is written, they are back as a 4 piece band and hopefully will be back on stage where our music belongs!

Recipe of Pain (2016)
The Quest (out on Mighty Music December 14th 2018)

Bio

Julia and Karsten as the masterminds of the band worked hard on new material. Together with the new member Jan-Hendrik they perform as a perfect songwriting team. The single „Leap in the Dark“ was released in february 2017. This single was already a little sneak for the album „THE QUEST“, for which the band rerecorded those songs. With 13 other songs from the album the band will unleash the concept album called „THE QUEST“ on December the 14th 2018 for you listening pleasure.

Blackdraft will bring you a mystic scary adventure story from the cold scandinavian north and the deep dark ocean.

The band says:

“Therefore we were thrilled that Mighty Music signed us to release the album. Besides the fact that a northern label fits perfect into our concept-story, we all love Denmark and the rest of Scandinavia. We were blessed to have a choice and Mighty Music was definitely the first. We are looking forward to a great collaboration with the Mighty Music team and a great time with all of you out there!”

Faanefjell

ABOUT

Faanefjell was formed in 2009 by Kim Arly Karlsen (ex guitar) and Benjamin Jørgensen (ex vocal) in a smokefilled basement after drinking mjød and making 3 songs about some angry trolls. The songs got the attention of Mayhem Music and one year after the band joined forces with Kjell “Draagyn” (guitar), David “Berserk” (Drums), Marcus “Beist” (bass) to release “Trollmarsj” (2010).

“Trollmarsj”, the debut album of 2010, tells the story of two angry trolls setting out on a journey to gather their allies and drive humanity out of their ancient homeland.

Dovrefall, 2018

BIO

Faanefjell is the musical embodiment of an era where two countries were one kingdom. The human civilization had developed electrical lightning and dynamite to once and for all conquer the Scandinavian forests and mountains and drive the Trolls further into oblivion. Faanefjell uses lyrics deeply inspired by Scandinavian folklore mixed in with symphonic black metal. But make no mistake – there is no princess in the tower or happily ever after in the realm of Faanefjell. Only shadows, trolls and songs long forgotten.

The band has since its creation proven itself to be a strong live-band with full out troll-costumes, glowing yellow eyes and lots of interaction with the audience. “The atmosphere was brutal and the constant moshpits in front of the small stage testified that Faanefjell was among the audience favorites.” – Metalized review of metal Magic Festival.

The band has played most of the major norwegian metal-festivals, Wacken Open Air (2012), In Flammen Open Air (2018), countless club-gigs in europe and supported the legendary Nargaroth on their EU tour in 2017.

After 5 years Benjamin (Syrtroll) and Kim (Grimtroll) parted ways with Faanefjell to pursue other things in life. The rest of the band knew just who to call and soon after Dag Haugland (vocal) and Petter Sjödin (guitar) was soldered into the lineup. The upcoming album “Dovrefall” builds on the “Trollmarsj” universe and tells the tale of a kingdom in war, the trolls against the humans. As the tale gets darker the music follows and presents the listener with a more brutal and darker sound.

Gory Blister

About

GORY BLISTER are an old-school death metal band originally inspired by Death and the Kreator/Pestilence tradition. It’s no coincidence they made their debut in 1991.

After their official debut Art Bleeds, the album that got the best attention from the audience was Skymorphosis, providing the band the chance to go on a big European tour, alongside Steve Di Giorgio’s Sadus, and Darkane.

In the two albums released in the following years, Graveyard Of Angels and Earth-Sick, the latter is worth mentioning, featuring Karl Sanders from Nile, as a special guest on vocals in 2 songs.

Eventually, The Fifth Fury could have been the band’s ultimate album, but the diehard passion for music, and the challenge to push it forward, has motivated the band to write new material, laying the foundations for the new album entitled “1991.Bloodstained”. Out through Mighty Music on September 28th.

Bio

During the writing process and demoing period of this new effort, the band had the privilege to receive the artistic and impartial consulting from the Godfather of Metal, Jon Zazula (the man who discovered Metallica), with whom the guitarist Raff Sangiorgio got in touch during the promotion of his solo album “Rebirth”.

Listening to the demos, Jon Zazula made his criticism on the work in progress, which was seriously taken into consideration by the band, in order to get the best songwriting ever on this new album.

“1991.Bloodstained” now exists. It’s an album with a self-congratulatory title, because it recalls the birth date of Gory Blister, even if the lyrics, as in the past, deal with a poetic and visionary perceiving of tragedies and disasters caused by the human race on Earth.

Septekh

About

Dirty, blackened death/thrash from Sweden. Fueled by vintage sherry and fresh black pots. Devoted live act in pursuit of the perfect gig. Alternately compared to Aura NoirSatyriconThe Crown and Entombed. This is the sound of the beast, the language of Septekh.

These guys seriously do not give even one hint of a fuck when it comes to unleashing their fury and with lyrics of such an unprecedented nature, you’ve not only got a beast that’s run rampant, but the remnants of a ravaged cage scattered about where it clawed its way to realms unparalleled in metal music.

Pilgrim (2018)

Bio

SEPTEKH was formed in the autumn of 2008 in a cramped garage in the rustic suburban area of Norrtuna, Järna, Sweden. As the four very different founding members met creatively they found something unique. Their collective musical effort outshone, outclassed and outpaced the sum of its parts.
The newly sprouted group was ready to gig in record time. The 6 track demo of 2009 is a testament to that period. By the time the band had recorded and released its two firsts Eps (Abyss Records), it moved out of its birthing place into an abandoned smithy out on the Dark Island of Mörkö. Most of the band has at one point or another called it home. Now it exists solely to serve SEPTEKH. Here the PLAN in its philosophical and its LP recorded form (Studio 508 Productions / Abyss Records) was put together piece by trembling piece during countless long nights.

And here we are today. The word is spreading. SEPTEKH lurks in a little red house on a big Dark Island, just off the east coast of Sweden. Secretive and singular. Toiling away at their next feat. Ever conscious of the movements of the beast they’ve nurtured. Our protagonists never rest.
