Chronicle

ABOUT

2023 will be known for a lot of things. And among all of them, the slight “detail” that will be CHRONICLE‘s third full-length album, “Where Chaos Thrives”, will likely put melodic/technical death metal fans in a frenzy. The record elevates the young Danes’ sound to a new level of brutality and technicality, enhanced by the superior production, mixing and mastering done by Tue Madsen (Meshuggah, The Haunted, The Black Dahlia Murder). With artwork done by Samuel Nelson (Allegaeon, First Fragment, Vale Of Pnath), “Where Chaos Thrives” has all the right ingredients in the right quantities to be a pure death metal onslaught.

The sound of Chronicle is a ferocious combination of melodic death metal and technical thrash elements. Lightning-fast drums, soaring solos and catchy guitar harmonies are the key ingredients in this cocktail of heaviness. The band consists of competent players, who each have many years of experience performing in front of crowds of all sizes. The band’s energetic live shows reveal a true passion for performing and each member of the band is determined to make every performance unique and energetic. Chronicle has played all over Denmark including some of the best metal events and festivals the country has to offer and also ventured into German territory.

Prepare yourself for the death metal sweeping winds of “Where Chaos Thrives”, a true extreme metal masterpiece to be remembered for years to come.

“Where Chaos Thrives” is out now on LP (black vinyl, limited to 300 copies), CD and digital formats via Mighty Music.

Stargazer

ABOUT

After their previous release “The Sky is the Limit”, Norwegian band STARGAZER entered the radar of connoisseurs of the hard rocking world. The group was loudly hailed as one to watch. They received a lot of great reviews all over the western world and were, back then in late 2019, ready to take on the world for serious touring. But serious touring saw an abrupt end due to Covid-19 for almost every band in 2020-21, with Stargazer being no exception.

The nordic five-piece didn’t lose their spirit and, diligently, took the downtime to start penning their next album. Produced by guitar player William Ernstsen and vocalist Tore André Helgemo, “Life Will Never Be The Same” is the result of those dark times with a silver lining ahead. Engineered by William at Jedimasterstudios, Trondheim, and mixed and mastered in Medley Studios, Copenhagen, by Soren Andersen (Glenn Hughes, Electric Guitars, etc), “Life Will Never Be The Same” is exactly the kind of album that you’d expect from a matured Stargazer and then some.

The five-piece powerhouse hammers on with Scandinavian vibes that consists of virtuosity and a vintage sound with a modern twist. Firing on all cylinders in combination with the sense of good melodies, great riffs, solos and songwriting handcraft. With one of rock’s best voices and one of the best blues-based hard rock guitar players around today. All this on top of a rock steady hard groove with killer rock songs such as “Live My Dream”, or down to the most tender and heartfelt tunes, as for example the single “Live Today”, with emotions worn on their sleeves.

“Life Will Never Be The Same” is the sound of Norwegian classic hard rock flagship, and Stargazer sets sail again with this third release in their discography. One to change their life – and yours – for good.

“Life Will Never Be The Same” is out now on digital, digipack CD and gatefold double LP (black vinyl, limited to 500 units) via Mighty Music.

Grumpynators

ABOUT

Four guys from Copenhagen with very diverse backgrounds – two guys come from the rockabilly scene, one guy from classic heavy metal, and one guy from hard rock. Imagine a mix of Social Distortion, Motörhead, and Stray Cats supercharged with adrenaline and testosterone, and then you get GRUMPYNATORS.

A hard-working Danish act, who already has played a lot of concerts everywhere in Europe from Northern Norway and Northern Finland to Germany, Holland, Austria, and Switzerland. They have supported Danish heroes Magtens Korridorer and have also been the only Danish act to support Volbeat, on a tour in the last ten years. In 2020 they release their 3rd album, “Still Alive”, in collaboration with Mighty Music, with the pure intention of taking over the rest of the world.

On the third album from Grumpynators, the playful mix of genres is even more evident than before. Although there is an unmistakable motorbilly sound throughout the ten tracks on the album, one can recognize everything from country inspiration over punk to tightly executed heavy-rock. A pervasive trend on this album is a constant high energy level. It’s rock, cut to the bone with an adrenaline-pumping party vibe. “Still Alive” aims to pay tribute to the good times, the party until sunrise and everything else about rock’n’roll, that make life worth living.

A longtime friend of the band, Michael Poulsen (Volbeat) comments: “I’ve heard the record a few times now and I think “Still Alive” is Grumpynator’s absolute strongest album so far. Very good production. My favourite song among the record’s 10 tracks is “Dream Girl

The album was recorded in Medley Studio with Søren Andersen as producer and technician. Søren was a conscious choice as Grumpynators believed that the hardrock-sound Søren produced suited them well. In addition, it was important for the first time to make a record with the same technician and producer from recording all tracks to the master. “Søren has managed to capture our live sound and the essence of Grumpynators at a level that exceeded our own expectations“, says guitarist Christian Nørgaard. “The high-end production combined with us being far more selective this time as only 10 out of 20 potential songs passed the bar, makes me say that this album is our strongest release to date“, he continues.

“Still Alive” will be released by Mighty Music as a CD, digital, and in three different vinyl formats (black, orange cloud and red/blue) on August 28th. A limited edition Grumpynators mask is available at www.targetshop.dk/grumpynators

Soren Andersen

ABOUT

You know him well. The ubiquitous guitarist, songwriter and producer SØREN ANDERSEN – or Soren Andersen, as they call him outside DK. If you haven’t heard him live with Electric Guitars or Glenn Hughes (ex Deep Purple/Black Sabbath), then you might have seen him on YouTube in an episode of Soren’s Sunday Sessions? You can also come across him in the Medley Studio in Copenhagen where he does his daily routine.

Soren Andersen is a world-class guitarist/producer/songwriter, residing in Copenhagen – when he’s not on a world tour. He’s one of the most used rock guitarists in all of Scandinavia. He is – and has been – on some of the biggest stages around the world and in the company of some of the greatest musicians in the industry. Over the past 15 years, Soren has been a regular guitarist for Glenn Hughes and played with Mike Tramp (ex-White Lion), Marco Mendoza & Tommy Aldridge (ex-Whitesnake/ Thin Lizzy), Joe Lynn Turner (ex-Rainbow), Pretty Maids, The Dead Daisies, The Answer, Dave Mustaine (Megadeth), Eric Martin & Billy Sheehan (MR. Big), Electric Guitars, Jesper Binzer (D:A:D) and Sanne Salomonsen… Add to this a lot of guest appearances with people from Red Hot Chili Peppers, Joe Bonamassa, Myles Kennedy and yes, the list could go on. There was praise from a guitar colleague after the release of Glenn Hughes’ “Resonate”, on which Soren of course also plays guitar. Mega star and guitar virtuoso Joe Satriani said the following about Soren’s playing on: “This guitarist is somebody I don’t know and who’s also the co-producer, Soren Andersen. And man, he’s so good… Soren is up there with the classic guitar greats, but Soren is totally into the future. His playing is very natural-sounding, and he manages to perform to the songs while still putting in some crazy textures. His choice of notes is interesting… Every time I put the record on, I go: Hey, I didn’t hear that before”- Big words from a true guitar legend…

But now Soren Andersen is album current with his first live record under his own name: “Live In The Homeland”. We’re talking about the follow-up to his critically acclaimed instrumental release from 2019, “Guilty Pleasures”. The album was followed by a longer tour in trio format consisting of the man himself on guitar, Grammy award winner Michael Gersdorff on bass and not least powerhouse drummer Allan Tschicaja from Pretty Maids behind the drums. A little over 100 shows were made and one of them was fortunately immortalized, both in picture and sound. On Friday, May 28, 2021 at 8:00 PM, Soren Andersen and the boys took the stage in his hometown Fredericia, in front of a packed hall in Eksercerhuset. The cameras were rolling and the multitrack system was a blessing on this magical evening – because it was namely the best show of the tour, and it was clear to the trio that it was a release worth it after the first listen. The concert is an entertaining trip into the instrumental guitar universe with forbidden long guitar solos, virtuoso bass performance – and of course the classic drum solo with everything that goes with it. In other words: Everything we LOVE. It’s all delivered with an irrepressible joy of playing and a rare energy that you only hear from top professional musicians.

I’ve rarely been as proud of something as I am of this album”, Soren says. “I live and breathe live music, and it’s on the slant boards that it really applies to me. That we delivered SUCH a good concert that night in my hometown, puts me in a really good mood. When I listen to the recordings I hear a trio in top form, we were well into the tour, so I can once again see that hard work pays off in the end. Michael and Allan play like it was the last time in their lives – I couldn’t wish for a better rhythm section. It’s a pleasure to play with the boys. Top-shelf musicians”.

“Live In The Homeland” is out now on gatefold double LP (black vinyl limited to 200 copies, transparent white vinyl limited to 300), CD and digital.

Soren Andersen: guitar
Michael Gersdorff: bass
Allan Tschicaja: drums

Xaon

ABOUT

An elusive name born amidst Switzerland’s highest mountains. Never quite fitting in any of the numerous galleries metal has to offer, drifting through the extremes whilst juxtaposing finesse and vehemence from an unworldly orchestra, endlessly exploring the vast echoic gloominess of the human mind.

In only a few short years, the combo led by Vincent Zermatten (guitars) and Rob Carson (vocals/orchestrations) has managed to tour the world through the release of their critically acclaimed debut album “The Drift”, notably across Europe with gothic metal monsters SIRENIA and folk metal legends TYR, in Japan with OBSCURA and ARCHSPIRE, in the US with THE VEER UNION, and sharing the stage in festivals across Europe with bands such as MEGADETH, TESTAMENT, EXODUS, GOJIRA, PARADISE LOST, ELUVEITIE and many more.

In 2019, XAON is back with their 2nd album somberly entitled “Solipsis” available through Mighty Music, bringing the band’s grandiose aggressiveness to a whole new level, pummeling their way through a cataclysmic atmosphere while reaching a new majestic apotheosis. This album is set to debut in the spring, which will see the band performing across Europe with SEPTICFLESH and KRISIUN while continuing to prove themselves as an upcoming force around the Metal world.

Pectora

About

From the country that gave us bands like King Diamond, Pretty Maids and Volbeat comes the newcomers of hard hitting melodic Danish heavy metal: Pectora.

Since the formation of the band in 2013 Roskilde based Pectora have released the demo ”Burgeon Of Hate” in 2014 and the EP ”Redemption” in 2017. All of them leading up to their bombastic debut album ”Untaken” to be released through Mighty Music in May 2019.

”Untaken” is produced by the band and mixed and mastered by one of Germany’s leading produceres Orden Ogans Sebastian ”Seeb” Levermann (Orden Ogan, Rhapsody Of Fire, Riot V & Brainstorm) in Greenman Studios.

It’s an album rich on full blown heavy metal from start to finish. Wrapped up in a modern and big production. Pectora shows that heavy metal, in 2019, still is an active force, where old school and new school heavy metal collides and melt together in the best possible way.

The 8 tracks on ”Untaken” showcases a band that knows how to write powerful songs with strong riffs, memorable melodies, harmonies and bombastic sing-a-long choruses, that stick to your brain.
If you are a fan of classic metal, thrash, power or hard rock and if you like your music fast, heavy and slow – Pectora is what you are looking for!

Transport League

ABOUT

It doubtlessly takes a lot of mental strength to stay on your chosen path, despite all the imponderables that the music industry entails. Transport League from Sweden are a prime example of determination and perseverance. As the critics’ faves, they have been praised to the skies, as a down-to-earth band they’ve always remained in tune with the times and close to their fans, while their rhythmic, powerful and stylistically diverse heavy metal has left an impressive mark on the international hard’n’heavy scene. Transport League are set to launch another artistic landmark, when the band are scheduled to release their new album A MLIION VOLT SCREAM thru MIGHTY MUSIC before going on to present their latest material live on stage with their familiar merciless energy. That’s when everybody will understand why the media like to refer to the group’s style by the album title of its 2014 release: BOOGIE FROM HELL!

Said boogie is also present on A MILLION VOLT SCREAM, albeit not exclusively so. Transport League appear to have opened Pandora’s metal box with intent and are now busy blazing their trail through all those strong ideas that they have unleashed. “Of course there’s boogie again, but also doom and hardcore, fast songs and hard riffs,” vocalist/guitarist Tony Jelencovich describes the new album. “Our sound may have changed a few times, but not the band’s raw power and our penchant for strong grooves.” The three longstanding band members Tony Jelencovich, Peter Hunyadi (guitar) and Mattias Starander (drums) recorded the album together with Transport League’s new bassist Dennis Österdal who has joined the fold to replace Lars Häglund, the latter having had to leave the group due to health problems.

Jelencovich is referring to rigorous numbers such as ´Monster Human`, set to be supported by a video clip, which has him state: “Leben , Sterben”.´Dawn of Lucifer` is no less uncompromising, Transport League by all appearances having been inspired by acts such as Black Sabbath and certainly doing the term ‘doom metal’ credit.

Talking of inspiration: “A MILLION VOLT SCREAM is a return to our own roots and mixes them with influences that had already surfaced on our two previous releases BOOGIE FROM HELL and TWIST AND SHOUT AT THE DEVIL,” Jelencovich summarises the basic direction of the new material.

A MILLION VOLT SCREAM was produced at Oral Majority Recordings and at the Top Floor studios under the direction of Roberto Laghi (In Flames, Entombed AD, Raised Fist, Sonic Syndicate, Mustasch, Hardcore Superstar etc), who also mixed the album.
About twenty years after the arrival of their debut STALLION SHOWCASE, Transport League are ready to present A MILLION VOLT SCREAM – not only their eight album to date but further evidence of their inexhaustible creative power.

Artillery

ABOUT

ARTILLERY is not a band of many live albums, In fact, in over four decades, they have put out just one. Until now. So, when it’s bound to happen, it should be special. Enter “Raw Live (At Copenhell)”. Recorded in 2022, just coming out of pandemics lockout, in one of the biggest metal festivals in their home country (and among the biggest metal festivals in Europe!), the live set by the Danes was impeccable. Sadly, it was also one of the last live appearances by drummer Josua Madsen, who was killed the next year in a car accident. It also marks a turning point for the veteran thrashers, who recently said goodbye to vocalist Michael Bastholm Dahl and guitar player Kraen Meier and are looking forward to an exciting new era ahead. But, for now, let’s bow before Josua’s monster performance at Copenhell in 2022 and hear it from Artillery’s guitar player and founder Michael Stützer about the release.

The year was 2022, we got the offer to play at one of the world’s absolutely coolest metal festivals: Copenhell. Everything had been destroyed by COVID-19 in the years before. So, 2022 was the year we got busy.

Big festivals contacted us, German TV and so on. Rockhard, Sweden Rock, Brutal Assault and Copenhell.

Copenhell was big for us. To share the stage with bands like KISS, Metallica, Iron Maiden, Mercyful Fate, Judas Priest, it hardly gets bigger. We sat down and decided to get the concert recorded, it had to be as raw as possible, authentic as hell and the hope was to be able to use the tracks as bonuses for future releases. Maybe as a live release. When we received the recording, we thought that the recording should be released as a concert, not as bonus tracks. Søren Andersen, our permanent producer, was put on the case. Sound levels had to be fixed a bit, but that was it. Søren said at one point, “Damn, Josh is ON FIRE!”. And he was!

Denmark’s biggest music magazine Gaffa gave the concert 5/6 stars and the headline was “The man is busy”. Josh played better than ever. Josua was killed in a car accident in 2023. Now the album is released, a little late, yes, but it’s a recording, which is as it should be when talking about Artillery. Raw, unpolished, straight in your face. Hence the name of the live record: “Raw Live (At Copenhell)”.

Artillery has been around for more than 40 years. The final chapter has not been written yet; just wait, there is more to Artillery. For example, a Metalized tour with friends from Manticora and new singer Martin Steene, known from Iron Fire and Force of Evil, as well as a larger USA tour. The album is a tribute to Josh, as well as a clenched fist in the air to our fans. Thanks Satan. Thanks to Mighty Music.”

“Live Raw (At Copenhell)” is out now on CD, LP (black vinyl) and digital formats via Mighty Music.

Ghost Ship Octavius

ABOUT

Formed in 2012 by guitarist Matthew Wicklund (God Forbid, HIMSA), drummer Van Williams (Nevermore) and vocalist/guitarist Adōn Fanion, Ghost Ship Octavius began writing what would become their critically acclaimed 2015 Self-Titled debut release. With foundations in Progressive Metal, GSO are forging a fresh pathway in the metal genre by exploring emotional and melodic writing firmly founded in technical playing and memorable hooks with a common theme of darkness, hope and ghostly imagery with chilling, arctic elements throughout. Their 2018 album Delirium sees GSO raising the bar in both technical ability and emotional depth and color and marks the beginning of a new Record Label partnership with Mighty Music.

“We are beyond pleased to announce joining forces with Mighty Music, bringing forth a new and exciting chapter for GSO Worldwide.” – Matthew Wicklund, Van Williams & Adōn Fanion.

“Ghost Ship Octavius is one of the most promising and professional artists I ever signed to Mighty Music. Their “Delerium” album is a 10/10 in my personal fanzine”, Michael H. Andersen, Mighty Music CEO.

“It is no exaggeration to restate that ‘Delirium’ has to be one of the strongest releases that 2018 has delivered to date. It is a truly excellent blend of heaviness, melody, theatrics and powerful bombast with enough complexity to give the record plenty of longevity. Ghost Ship Octavius deserve to be dining at the top table of heavy metal because ‘Delirium’ is a genuinely killer record. Check it out or miss out.” – Man of Much Metal

“From the beginning to the end you stay on the edge of your chair…A must for fans of Queensrÿche, Pain Of Salvation, Nevermore and Kamelot.” –Liselotte Hegt, Aardschok 90/100
