Denner’s Inferno

ABOUT

After playing in bands like Mercyful Fate and King Diamond, the legendary guitarist and songwriter Michael Denner is ready to release DENNERS INFERNO!

“Fountain Of Grace” is the new EP release from Mercyful Fate guitarist Michael Denner and his new band Denner’s Inferno.

Denner’s Inferno was created in the ashes of his former band Trickbag in 2018.
Mainly to transform the band from 70’s progressive hardrock to a more current vibe with new original songs and a new line up.

Michael Denner comments:  “After a lot of thoughts around what to do next I ended up doing what turned up to be the exact right move towards the music style I really love ; 70’s inspired Heavy Rock. The choice of team for this one came very natural. Bjarne and Flemming I’ve known for decades and exactly what they are capable to do with the rhythm section, and a good vibe to go with it. And by introduction from Mighty Music’s Michael H. Andersen I found the golden voice of Chandler Mogel. A New Yorker with deep roots in the same music style as I love to do. This time I chose a selection of songs I wrote with good people during the last few years and a few obscure covers of songs which have made an impact on my taste in music since my journey as a heavy rock guitarist started many years ago now. This album is for the listeners who like their music hard and heavy with strong beautiful vocals and some No Nonsense playing to back it up. Enjoy !!!!!!”

FRANKLIN ZOO

ABOUT

Franklin Zoo is probably Denmark’s best hidden rock treasure. Until now. The new album ”Red Skies” (first for Mighty Music and first album to be released internationally) consists of melancholic hard rock appealing equally to heart and perception. It clinically investigates honesty and the honest expression for the sake of themselves.

The music reflects states of mind, which are born from the members’ need for space to express the mellow side of life by loss, forbidden longing and existential deprivation. It is driven by an ambivalent anxiety of being successful as well as having success. It is an aggressive, massive and powerful expression inspired by artful music, which in the bands experience is everything from Bowie to Nirvana, or from Nick Cave binging with Mastodon and Soundgarden. The music is the companion of a beautiful and clear lyrical universe, which is denoted by its clinical honesty while encompassing the less admirable traits of the ordinary man.

“Red Skies” is the result of an artistic need. The main composers in the band all have an upbringing denoted by elements of desertion, loss, substance abuse and melancholia, where music became a necessity to mentally survive. Although safe, none have come out of this unscathed and today they all have an innate need to express the painful sensation of the chronic lostness in their adult existential foregrounds. Creating a new riff, chords and lyrics thus become a piece of themselves, which they share as a bittersweet gift hoping to touch upon or even comfort the listener. Trying to let the pain be empowering instead of debilitating. The music grants the opportunity to say what one is not otherwise able to say or ashamed of being. Thus “Red Skies” is the child of the members’ individual histories and addiction to music that investigates and contains the nuances of existential misery. And this can be heard; they never stop to strive for purity nor look away when curiously and painfully investigating themselves as an existential object. It is an album, which has caused a lot of pain to create and which the band is of course aware of how is received. But first and foremost: It is a record they have made for their own sake. The prestige of it is received does not make the artistic process more or less necessary for the members; it just makes the reception more or less successful, which is not the most important.

The album was recorded in Vibe Factory Studios in Copenhagen using John Paul Jones’ old Neve in cooperation with Jacob Bredahl (Hatesphere, The Kandidate).

FREDDY AND THE PHANTOMS

About

On Freddy And The Phantom’s fifth album, A Universe From Nothing, the band embark on a new epic chapter in the history they have been writing over the past decade. The door to the future is open and the band now finds itself in a dystopian and dangerous universe, where the threat of doom is constantly lurking in the shadows. There is no easy answer to the highly conceptual new album, which has been inspired by both Dante’s The Divine Comedy, Stephen Hawking’s A Brief History of Time, and the world’s current climate crisis. These heavy themes have also resulted in a heavier and tougher musical expression. A musical transformation that has sent the band into a heavy and scifi-rock universe, but without leaving their basic DNA of blues music behind.

“In order to devise the album, we have drawn on other musical and literary expressions than previously, looking both forwards and backwards in time for inspiration. Bach, Sabbath, Dio, Mastodon and Rival Sons, just to name a handful, have all pointed us in this new direction. Basically, we feel that right now we have found our own sound and niche, and because we don’t try to sound like a certain decade anymore, I feel that we have become more timeless than ever”, says the band’s lead singer Frederik ‘Freddy’ Schnoor.

A Universe From Nothing was recorded in Medley Studios in Copenhagen and produced by Ken Rock and the band itself. The basic tracks of drums, bass, keys, and guitars were, for the first time in the band’s history, tracked live throughout the record. Therefore, you get the sound of a band peaking after 10 years of live-interaction and subsequently, ‘Freddy’ put on his raw, juicy, vocals. The studio’s owner, the guitar guru Soren Andersen (Glenn Hughes, Electric Guitars), has also contributed with a masterful solo in pure blackmore style on the track River Of Hate.

A Universe From Nothing is out on Mighty Music / SPV on April the 24th, 2020.
The band plays a release concert in Copenhagen on April the 24th, venue TBA,
FATP is already booked for this year’s Jelling Festival, and will play summer concerts as well as a fall tour in Denmark – soon to be announced.

GRUMPYNATORS

About

On March 24th Grumpynators will release their second album: “City Of Sin” – the successor to the debut: “Wonderland”. The band now reveals the tracklist and the first single: “Take The Last Dance With Me” which will be released the 3rd of February on 7” vinyl (Single- and video release at Zeppelin Rock Bar, Copenhagen February 2nd).

“This is the difficult second album” says guitarist, Christian Noergaard and continues: ”It has been vital for us to make this record a lot stronger than the debut. This is one of the reasons why we choose to work with Jacob Hansen”. Michael Andersen, A&R at Mighty Music  follows up: “I think that Grumpynators is entering a whole different league with this album both in a songwriting and vocal context”.

The 12 track album is a product of a joint work process between the 4 musicians in the band and Rob Caggiano as guest guitarist on “Far Away”, a song where he in cooperation with the band have played solo, fills and themes. The drums, guitars and bass are recorded by Jakob Gundel at Gainfactory Studio – vocals, production, mix and master have been done with Jacob Hansen (Dizzy Miss Lizzy, Volbeat, Pretty Maids).

“Wonderland” secured the band a Gaffa Award for Danish Hard Rock Release Of The Year, and got the band nominated at High Voltage Award but the highlight in 2016 was playing at this years Copenhell – opening the Pandemonium Stage.

HEIDRA

ABOUT

Heidra is a Copenhagen-based metal band playing a mix of melodic, black, and power metal with folk-themed undertones, powerful choruses, and brutal growls. Heidra has a strong following in the Danish metal scene with an established yet growing fan base and a rich gigging history around the country.

Heidra was formed in 2006 and has been steadily growing in strength, in song-writing and as a live performing band over the years. Heidra released their debut EP “Sworn to Vengeance” in 2012 which was followed by the band’s first full album “Awaiting Dawn” in 2014. The album was recorded in Andy La Rocque’s (King Diamond) Sonic Train Studios and accompanied by the bands’ first professional video filmed on location at the iconic Møns Klint for the song “The Eyes of Giants”.

These two critically acclaimed releases pushed Heidra forward and landed the band a series of concerts, including two smaller international tours with bands such as Ektomorf, Infest, and Noctem, a Danish tour and support concerts in Denmark for folk metal giants Korpiklaani.

In 2016 the band was given a support slot on a full European tour in support of Ensiferum and Fleshgod Apocalypse. This propelled the band, literally and figuratively onto the international stage and opened the door to many new fans and new friendships.

At the conclusion of the tour work began in earnest to a follow-up album, expanding upon and continuing the epic narrative begun on “Awaiting Dawn”. “The Blackening Tide” was recorded, produced, mixed, and mastered by Marco Mastrobuono in Rome at Kick Recording Studio in 2017, and marked a further evolution in song-writing prowess and metal riffing majesty.

Following the release of “The Blackening Tide”, Heidra once again set out to conquer Europe, supporting Omnium Gatherum on their European tour in the fall of 2019.

2020 became the year of the Covid-19 pandemic, and, as most actual band activities had been stopped in its tracks, Heidra began working on their third studio album, “To Hell or Kingdom Come” – an album that would complete their trilogy of story-driven concept albums, “The Dawn Trilogy”.

The album was recorded in Italy and Denmark in July and August of 2021 and like “The Blackening Tide”, was recorded with Marco Mastrobuono. To play the drums on the album, the band enlisted the help of Francesco Paoli (of Fleshgod Apocalypse fame) whose stellar drumming provided the backbone of “To Hell or Kingdom Come”.

This new album takes Heidra in a more aggressive direction, drawing inspiration from classic melodic death metal, while at the same time having the band’s melodies and clean singing at its core.

“To Hell Or Kingdom Come” is out now on digital, CD and LP (two colours, each limited to 300 units) by Mighty Music.

JUSTIFY REBELLION

About

The Ends Justify The Means…

…such is the name of the brand new heavy metal album by Denmark’s hard hitting heavy metal band Justify Rebellion. The rebellion is here to stay, proven by this monstrosity of a heavy metal album, which takes its inspiration from several metal genres. With this album you can easily tell that the kids from the first album “Unleashing The Beast’ have grown into testosterone-filled heavy metal hailers. Their new album is mainly centered on the darker aspects of humanity and society, with the topics on the record varying from greed, war, lust and drugs to vulnerability and self-realization.

The riffs are heavier, the solos are faster, the drums are punchier, and the bass is rumbling its way to mayhem. Never has Justify Rebellion felt so strong and powerful! With this masterpiece of a track list, nothing can take these guys down. Justify Rebellion has turned up the pace, but also made room for some thunderous and slower anthems for fans to break their necks to.

The album is, as “Unleashing The Beast”, recorded and produced in CB Studios in Jutland by Christian Bonde, who also provides guest vocals on the track “Throne Of Greed” – the longest track by the rebellion to date.

Hailing from Slagelse in Denmark, the four-piece has carved a name for themselves with their old-school sound and a lot on heart, culminating in their albums “Unleashing The Beast” and “The Ends Justify The Means”. These records grab you be the collar and deliver a solid right hook to the jaw, while the collective voice of the band roars in your face, like a lion stepping on a LEGO!

In 2021 the band dug into the past and found what really mattered when they first started up the band. The release “L.A. Collection” brought some of the more straight rock’n’roll tracks written by Lucer at the beginning of their career, with a new recording. Nine songs released on black vinyl with an uncompromising production and no bull s*** playing style.

Came early 2022 and the band was ready to move forward once again. The album “The New World” was announced, following the release of four singles and videos very well received by the media and fans. On “The New World”, the pure rock sound that many know from Lucer’s debut album is accompanied by both electrobeats and sync effects – and that is exactly the common thread throughout the album. MERIDIAN

ABOUT

Denmarks melodic heavy metal band MERIDIAN are releasing their third album “Margin Of Error” as the follow-up to the critically acclaimed “Breaking The Surface” from 2016.
It’s the bands third album, but it contains a couple of firsts. It’s the first full album made with guitarist and producer Marco Angioni, and it’s the first album written and recorded with a stable line-up, all sharing the same musical vision.

Work on the album began in 2017 where various writing sessions resulted in the basic foundation for eight new tracks. The band went straight into Death Island Studios to try out, and test drive the new working relationship with Marco at the helm. Four songs where recorded and released as the digital EP “The Fate Of Atlantis” in March 2018.
In early 2018 Martin and Marco took some time off to write and record a new album with former Accept singer David Reece. The album “Resilient Heart” is a big success and showcase, apart from Reece as the great singer he is, also Martin and Marco as the talented songwriters and performers they are.
In the summer of 2018 the band finished off the songwriting and headed back into the studio to record the remaining seven songs for the album.

Musically the songs varies from melodic rock like the first single “Second Best”, over hard hitting metal anthems and slowpaced heavy monsters to the all out thrashy “Disconnect”, which contains guest appearance from Steve Smyth (One Machine, Nevermore, Testament etc.) on lead guitar.
It’s a varied musical landscape, but all 11 tracks are well crafted songs with strong vocal melodies and memorable choruses you can sing along to. Lyrically the songs deals with important topics like war (Off To War), death (Circle The Drain), global warming (The Fate Of Atlantis), over personal topics like mental illness (Fragments Of A Life) and fighting inner demons (The Devil Inside Us All), to dealing with modern day life where everybody is constantly online (Disconnect). “Margin Of Error” is the new album from Meridian. It’s the most coherent and well crafted collection of songs from a band that’s better than ever. Meridian is heading out on the road in 2019 to support the album.

SEE THE SKY

promo2

About

Eccentric, experimental and eclectic, SEE THE SKY are a unique metal band that dare to be different.

With new collaborators on board for album number two, ‘Ego Rehab’ see’s band founder and composer Blake Gardner pushing SEE THE SKY into a more post-metal inspired atmosphere, throughout the eleven new tracks. This time around we are also introduced to the addition of Blake’s wife, Miriam Gardner (Wintergarden). Her melodic vocals added to the mix makes for a great contrast to the male death metal growls. The music is spacious and evocative and lyrically centered on the conceptual theme of one man’s progressive journey from socially induced narcissism to full blown psychiatric institutionalism.

The invisible dystopian force of social engineering is the topic tackled metaphorically throughout SEE THE SKY’s new concept album, ‘Ego Rehab’.

The sense that society is being driven along a predetermined path. The feeling that select ideas are being disseminated through media, politics, education. The manufacturing of consent as an effective and highly utilized social science permeates the dark musical subtlety of this album with a thoughtful intrigue.

So has perception replaced, and become our reality? Is a politically correct fog subconsciously subverting critical thought and individuality? And have we as a society gone psychologically beyond the realm of no return?

Using the Zack Snyder film, ‘Sucker Punch’ as the initial inspiration for the concept that metaphorically depicts society as a man who is unconsciously coursed from narcissism to a form of functional insanity, by social engineers. The music, lyrical content and artwork, uniquely flow together with this idea, setting a soundtrack to the machinations that are involved in conditioning society and more importantly the potential fallout of individuals that don’t seem to fit into the mold.

The album was recorded at Caramel Candy/England and GForce/Denmark during 2013/2014. Produced and mixed by Blake Gardner for Vocal Station/Halohouse.

‘Ego Rehab’ will be released via Mighty Music July 3rd. 2015!

SKULLCLUB

ABOUT

Danish Skullclub is no longer an unknown name in the Danish rock scene, but despite this, they have never compromised the violent style Skullclub is known and notorious for. Now the band is launching their long-awaited 2nd album, which will once again shock all delicate souls. Since the band in 2015, kicked the door into the Danish rock scene with their praised debut album “Gamle Ar og Nye Tænder”, they have played countless praised concerts around the country, thus renaming the Skullclub as one of the wildest live acts in the Danish rock scene.

The expected follow-up album under the name “Smækhugger” is now ready to give the world another slap in the face. The style is still uncompromising and the record reveals that the band continues in the same genre mix between raw and unpolished punk rock and sing-along folk, who precisely define Skullclub’s sound.

The band itself says: “It’s our most raw and unpolished record to date – we try to go all the way completely with the sound that defines Skullclub.  – “We are still moving between “pedal to the metal” punk rock and sing along sailor beer choir. We feel we have been aiming to perfect the style we made from land on the previous albums. And then “Smækhugger” is also our most nasty record so far.”

So sit back and get offended when Skullclub with the new album “Smækhugger” continues to rob and rape not only the Danish, but the worldwide rock landscape!
